NEW To Riverside this Week: KT aka ‘Kids Table’ and Riverdale Trading Company

There is always change in the air in Riverside and this week was no exception! Check out the newest spots in the neighbourhood:

KT aka Kids Table

Aft Kitchen and Bar opened their much anticipated sister restaurant KT aka Kids Table on July 11 next door at 682 Queen St East.

This space has sat empty since Dark Horse Espresso moved to their not-so-new digs just a few blocks west at 630 Queen E in late-2014 (wow yes it’s been that long already!).

Co-owner of Aft, Paul Campbell, ad his team have been hard at work (while running popular Aft) this past year transforming the space into KT, a brand-new cafe/sports bar concept. The name stands for Kids’ Table, which was meant to convey a sense of play (if not their desired age demographic).

It’s a multi-use space: in the morning, they’re doing breakfast items, pastries and espresso from Jet Fuel. In the early afternoon, they turn on the TV screens and begin serving drinks and a snacks menu that will let the Aft kitchen staff, led by executive chef Michael Beck, experiment with culinary possibilities outside Aft’s barbecue menu.

Congrats to the Aft team and welcome KT!!

Riverdale Trading Company

Another long-vacant space at 760 Queen St E, former Hardware Interiors shop right across from the BIA office, has been given new life with the July 13 opening of Riverdale Trading Company. Staff Lisa and Jacquie will be the smiling faces to greet customers. This ‘head shop’ also sells south African art, pieces imported from indonesia, crystals, silver jewellery and beautiful colourful kites. On their first day, Lisa and Jacquie said they had already experienced the welcoming atmosphere in Riverside saying ‘it’s lovely, you just don’t see that very much anymore’.
