Riverside Eats & Beats Animates the Neighbourhood with the Support of Streetcar

Eats&Beats2016-Facebook

Riverside’s highly anticipated annual food and music festival, Eats & Beats has been made possible by the support of Streetcar Developments. Streetcar is no stranger to support local community initiatives. In addition to being the lead sponsor for 2016’s Riverside Eats & Beats, Streetcar also provided the initial and largest sponsorship push for the capital investment of the Riverside Bridge illumination and gateway project in 2015.

Broadview Hotel past and present

Broadview Hotel: Past and Future

Though Streetcar’s support of community initiatives is huge for place making, their development projects have also made an impact in drastically improving neighbourhoods. In Riverside alone, their purchase of the Broadview Hotel (formerly known as Jilly’s Strip joint), is reviving the Romanesque heritage building to its former glory as a boutique hotel.   The Riverside Square Development will add dynamic retail to an unanimated stretch of the neighbourhood, bring it alive with a public park, and retail frontage, while bring much needed density to the area.

Streetcar recognizes the necessity of maintaining and repurposing Toronto’s unique buildings and integrating the authentic feel of Riverside and much of Toronto’s east end.  By encompassing both adaptive re-use of existing building stock, and new purpose-built loft condominiums, which reflect the design patterns of the surrounding historical buildings, Streetcar both connects with the surrounding area and brings new life to past buildings, while retaining connection to Toronto’s heritage.
