Whats a Pollinator Garden?
Specifically in Riverside, the Pollinator Garden will be composed entirely of native perennial plants (plants that have a long evolutionary history in the area). Not only that, Pollinator Partnership also only source from specialized nurseries who source their plants in Ontario, and so the plants in your garden would be local ecotypes – that means their genetics are local and they help conserve genetic diversity and ensure the best adaptation to local conditions. The plants would offer pollen and nectar from early in the spring into late fall, as well as provide host plants for a variety of butterfly species. So no human-food producing plants, but certainly plenty of food for butterflies!

Who are the Pollinator Partnership?
Pollinator Partnership’s mission is to promote the health of pollinators, critical to food and ecosystems, through conservation, education, and research.

Pollinator Partnership Canada (P2C) is a registered not-for-profit organization dedicated exclusively to the protection and promotion of pollinators and their ecosystems through conservation, education, and research.
