Light Up Riverside, the Riverside BIA’s annual holiday event, will once again enliven the community with a tree lighting, live choir music, photobooth, hot drinks and lots of cheer! The fun festivities are happening on Saturday, November 24th, from 5pm to 7pm in the Mustard Seed Courtyard.
This year, donation items will be welcomed for our host, Mustard Seed, in support of their mission “to be a welcoming space — where your life skills can grow, where your creative energies can be unleashed, where imagination, playfulness, and beauty can be celebrated, where your self-worth, dignity, healing, wholeness and spirituality can flourish, and above all, where community is nourished”.
Mustard Seed runs many different programs and welcomes all the community to be part of it. Some examples of their programs include:
- Community Kitchen: Delicious, nutritious, affordable meals prepared and shared in the community.
- Nifty Knitters: Learn to knit and crochet or work on your own project.
- Crafts and Sewing: Opportunities for creativity; supplies provided.
- Whimsical Wednesdays for Women: Lunch, crafts, sewing, cards and more.
- Friday Adult Drop-In: Conversation and games.
- Saturday Adult Drop-In: Lunch, conversation and games.
- Spiritual Spas, Special Events and Workshops
- Community Garden Plots
Everyone is welcome to donate at Light Up Riverside from 5pm-7pm for a chance to win a gift basket donated by Dianna and Patrick from Gillis & Kennedy RE/MAX.
