Sash & Bustle Bridal Boutique – Riverside Business Profile Series

Sash & Bustle Bridal Boutique, 779 Queen Street East, Toronto

Some might argue Sash & Bustle Bridal Boutique was, in a way, the start of many great things to happen in Toronto’s Riverside neighbourhood.

In 2015, the new bridal shop painted its facade white, filled its windows with exquisite gowns, and breathed life into a tired building along Queen Street East near Saulter Street.

“When we first moved in you could see the area was up and coming, with some hot restaurants and bars,” says Veronica Tomik, a sales manager at Sash and Bustle. In fact, Riverside has evolved tremendously since the bridal shop opened.

In 2016, the Riverside Pollinator Mural was completed just west of Sash & Bustle’s location, and shortly after the Queen Garden Centre opened adjacent to that, bringing even more vitality to the neighbourhood. In 2017, The Broadview Hotel building was revitalized and had its grand opening, “some of the brides are hosting their weddings there too!” says Veronica.

There are so many things to love about doing business here, says Veronica, noting working with other Riverside business owners has been a huge plus. “If you want to collaborate on fun events there is always someone to depend on,” she says, “it’s simply the perfect neighbourhood for us.”

Owned by sisters Vanessa and Andrea Dineen, Sash & Bustle offers a personalized and relaxed bridal shopping experience for all brides and bridal parties.

“Our brides are modern women in love!” says Veronica, “They are down to earth, with an urban lifestyle but love to take the time to get back to nature. They also love to shop locally and support small businesses. Our brides want to feel like a bride on their big day, but not necessarily a traditional one.”
