You’re invited to enjoy a harvest bicycle ride on some of the most beautiful roadways in Ontario in support of Switchback Cyclery!
Join Switchback on September 15th, for a guided, scenic 15km, 25km, or 70km ride through the idyllic countryside of Northumberland County. The scenery is amazing and the ride will be followed by a farm-fresh lunch at Headwaters Community Farm & Education Centre.
Switchback Cyclery is a non-profit Employment Social Enterprise (ESE), it’s a retail and service-focused bicycle shop with its origins in Sanctuary Toronto, a Christian charitable organization that welcomes and employs people who have gone through rejection and abuse. They offer relationships and a chance to rediscover the joy and dignity that comes from having a meaningful and purposeful occupation.
Switchback Cyclery looks for their crew by giving long-term employment, training courses, one-on-one mentoring and support in all aspects of life (from housing and banking to budgeting and developing strategies for personal growth).
The level and pace of each ride were developed to accommodate different levels of skills. Our “Slow and Steady” ride is our 15km ride, a low-key, relaxing ride through the countryside of the province, perfect for everyone. There is also our 25km ride, “Cruiser“, a more ambitious trek around Northumberland County with some hills. And if you feel you are in need for a true adventure and to push your limits, go with our 70km “Road Warriors” ride, where you have the chance to take in all the gorgeous scenery in a high-intensity ride.
Don’t worry if you have members of your family that don’t ride, there will be fun for everyone!
They’ll have kid-friendly activities at the farm during the morning for those who aren’t riding. This includes a Farm Tour and Axes & Arrow activity (age minimums).
So bring the whole family for a wonderful day in the country! Just 75 minutes east of Toronto.
